Melissa Bruce is the Principal Deputy Special Inspector General Performing the Duties of the Special Inspector General for the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP). 

Ms. Bruce served as the Acting, Special Inspector General from March through October 2022. Prior to this, Ms. Bruce was the Deputy Special Inspector General, a position she held since August 2021. She served as the Deputy Special Inspector General for Management from August 2020 to August 2021.

Ms. Bruce joined SIGTARP from the Department of Homeland Security where, from January 2017 through July 2020 she served as the Executive Director of the Business Management Office for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). Ms. Bruce served the DHS Office of the Under Secretary for Management as Acting Chief of Staff, as part of the DHS SES Candidate Development Program, where she provided counsel and leadership on homeland security-related initiatives, operations, and programs. Ms. Bruce advised on the formulation of strategic plans and policies for management programs within DHS specifically related to human capital, facilities, logistics, security, finance, information technology, and procurement.

From 2012-2016, she served as Budget and Acquisition Director for the OCIO and prior to that she served as the Budget Branch Chief in the Office of Operations Coordination and Planning.

Prior to joining DHS in 2009, she was a Senior Associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers and a Senior Program Control Analyst for L-3 Communications Integrated Systems.

Ms. Bruce holds an M.S. degree in information systems from Baylor University and a B.B.A. in financial management from Abilene Christian University.
